Let's Be honest #5: The Power of Daddy

Daddy is home!

He arrived home the end of last week and we all feel complete!  It's so nice to have a partner again to help with this parenting thing :)  And to be able to just speak to my better half about anything I want at any time! It's amazing how much I would forget to tell Jeremy during the few minutes he would get to call.  No matter how many times I would try to make a list to talk to him about I would misplace it and forget! LOL.

It's crazy how fast kids change.  Caden is almost a different child now and I was so excited for Jeremy to see him again!  And I simply could not have imagined how much joy I would feel again seeing them together.

Caden follows daddy around, tries to make him laugh, and asks "where daddy go?" when he can't find him right away.  He was very upset when he couldn't go to work with him this morning!

I am so thankful that Caden was not stand-offish when his daddy got home.  My biggest fear was that he wouldn't want to go to him and only want mommy.  But he is so proud and happy that his daddy is home!  He does pull the mommy card when he's extra cranky though ;)

Being a "single" mommy while Jeremy was away required me to fill every parenting role.  And I did it the best I could.  But I was quickly reminded just how important the role of Daddy is.  Jeremy is an amazing father and doesn't give in to Caden's cuteness as quickly as I do when Caden is misbehaving!  I am sometimes blinded by his adorably sweet smile and laugh when I'm instructing him to eat his food, or listen to mommy and he is doing exactly the opposite.   When Dad tells him to do it, it's much more firm and a solid request ;) Much more manly! haha.  Although we do have to turn our faces and try not to laugh when caden is unintentionally being cute.

I have to make sure to stand by Jeremy's disciplinary actions with Caden so that he doesn't try to play us against eachother in the future!  So that we are a solid team and that what one says, the other agrees.  Especially if Daddy is gone for long periods of time.  His decisions and opinions still matter!  Parenting with Jeremy is such an adventure and I'm so very blessed God called us to do it together.  I absolutely could not have wished it any other way!

Do any of yall have husbands that have to be gone often for work?  What challenges do you face with re-introducing Daddy back into daily life?  So far there hasn't been any real struggles, but I would love some advice for the future! Any tips or activities to strengthen that father son bond.
