April's baby shower!

Today I hosted a baby shower for my great friend April.   She's due January 17th (the day before my birthday!) with a precious baby boy!  His name will be Rowan.  Her twin sister Amy's baby boy Elliot is simple beautiful so I'm looking forward to seeing what Rowan looks like! Yes I know. Most babies are beautiful.  But you know how some just are over the top cute?  Like Caden for example?! :) hehe.  Anyway that's Elliot too.  He's so incredibly adorable.

I decided to do a milk and cookies theme for the food.  Thanks to my Sister in Law Stacey for the fabulous idea!  It was perfect too.  Everyone loved it.  And it was inexpensive! Perfect if you're on a budget. Especially around Christmas! I got cute little bakery bags with snowflakes on them from the dollar store so everyone could take cookies home with them!  I did not make all the cookies myself. I asked a couple of the ladies to bring some cookies too.  I made butterscotch oatmeal cookies (my fav) that were a huge hit with everyone, and melt in your mouth sugar cookies that I spelled the letter R on in blue icing.  And yes they melt in your mouth!  so delicious.  Janet brought coconut crisps which I had never had before but were delicious, and Katie brought some very soft chocolate chip cookies!  And of course we had cake!

So cute right?  And it was yummy :) I got the cake from a local bakery called Pat-a-cakes. They matched the design to the invitation I sent out. Love it.

I am very proud of this :) I wanted a really elegant center piece for the shower but still stay within our budget!  So I grabbed some branches from a tree in the backyard and strung some white lights on them.  Voila!  Beautiful!  And festive!  Especially since I did not decorate for Christmas in the house this year.  Don't get all upset!  I know this is not like me AT ALL.  Christmas is my favorite.  But since we will be spending Christmas in Dallas I just didn't want the hassle of it all when we wouldn't even be able to enjoy it for long. And then worrying about taking it all down and putting it away when we got back from our trip.  I want to come home to a clean and organized home and put our gifts away and start the new year!  We've been through a lot this holiday season.  We dont want any more stress than necessary.

Anyway, moving on.

April's mom Kris let me borrow some beautiful cake stands so I could display the goodies :) I have decided that's one of the things I want next for my kitchen collection!  I don't have any pretty pieces for entertaining.

These are the Sugar cookies I made.  Another one I'm proud of ;) hehe.

Me and the beautiful April!  And handsome Caden too ;) So glad she got this picture because I forgot to get one with my camera!  Hostessing keeps you busy!

Santa's little helper Rylie :) This is April's little darling! Isn't she precious?  She's going to be a big sister soon!

Ok had to share a picture of my guy too :) April caught this cute picture of Caden cuddling his two teddys :) Oh I just love him!

The game we played was guess how big around her belly is!  We had two winners that were exact! So glad I got two little prizes.  PERFECT.  Again staying within the budget but not getting something "cheap" the prizes I got were candles from wal-mart.  One of my fav scents mulled cider and the other vanilla.  The little candles are only a dollar.  Yep a dollar.  ;)

We can't wait to meet you Rowan!
