New routines are fun!

I love having a reason to start fresh!  I seem to always have some new task or goal to complete, or a routine I want to implement to make things easier or more fun!  I'm pretty impressed with myself for actually starting some of the things I keep saying I'll do differently!  I've actually stuck to meal planning for the week and only buying what we need at the store.  And I am not letting the little things stress me out.

I think when you lose someone you realize all the little things dont matter.  All those little nagging chores that I want to get done dont need to be done right now! I'll get to them when I can.  I want to invest my time in God, my family, and my friends.

I've recognized this change in my attitude since we've been home from Christmas vacation.  Today for example Caden slept in, so I slept in! We woke up around 845 and his school starts at 9.  Normally I would have been rushing around trying to get out the door and getting stressed that now I have less time to get all my errands done.  But I simply got up, got us both ready and he was at school by 930.  no biggie!  Besides, it's preschool. They dont get counted for tardies ;) hehe.
Then I decided to go tan. Something for myself.  Give me a little color so I dont stare at a ghost in the mirror during the winter!
After that I thought I would run to the grocery store to get the list I made the night before for meals for the week.  I got about half way through my list when my friend April texted me saying she would be at Panera by 11.  We planned to meet for lunch today and I was thinking she wouldnt be done with her doctor's appt until 11. Oops!  But I didn't stress out.  Normally I would have said oh I can't make it after all because I'm in the middle of shopping, or try to push it back to a later time at the inconvenience of the other person and stress out about rushing around!  Instead I simply said ok I'll be there a little late because I misunderstood the time and proceeded to check out and then drop the groceries off at home to meet her for lunch.
Yes I was about 15 minutes late which is not a huge surprise since I'm late to everything!! (another goal I'm trying to change this year! )
I just finished the grocery shopping after Caden woke up from his nap!  Came home and cooked dinner. And while cooking dinner I swept and mopped the downstairs.  When I have the energy I definitely use it!

Anyway I'm excited about doing new things this year.  This example was not stressing :)

Another thing I'm doing differently is actually reading and studying the bible.  I dont have a lot of knowledge of the bible and it really bothers me! So I'm starting a Beth Moore bible study this Sunday with my Sister in law Stacey.  It's called Breaking Free. I'm really excited about it!  She lives in Dallas so we are listening to the discs on our own and doing the daily studies and then discussing them together at the end of the week.

In addition to that Beth Moore also has a scripture memory challenge on her blog that I'm doing.  You choose a verse to memorize every two weeks. The 1st and the 15th is when she will be posting her verse. You can choose to "check-in" and comment on the blog with your own verse, but I'm just going to be reading the blog and writing either the verse she chose, or using one I've found to memorize.  I'll most likely be just using the ones she chooses because like I said, my knowledge of the bible is very little and I'll have a hard time finding the right verse to memorize.  This is the blog entry for the first one if you are interested! Scripture Memory team verse 1.

My first verse is one she talks about that I really like to start off the year!

" You crown the year with your good blessings, and you leave abundance in your wake" Psalms 65:11 NET
I'll keep yall updated on how i'm doing! :)
