I was excited to go but wasn't excited that Caden would have to spend a good portion of the day in childcare while we did the sessions since he's in childcare ALL week! :( It wasn't that bad though. Friday night was terrible, but Saturday and Sunday there was an older lady there named Harriet that is a professional nanny and has been for years so I explained my concerns and asked if she would exclusively take care of Caden. She did and she was great! Caden on the other hand wasn't too sure of where he was or who he was with so he didn't have as much fun. Luckily though I could walk out and check on him any time I wanted and I could sit in the sessions with him if I wanted while he was being quiet. So I held him for a little while during some of the sessions while he napped. :) I love my little man.
As for the sessions themselves well they were ok. We didn't really learn anything new about eachother but it was fun talking to other couples about being married. The best info we walked away with was financial advice from watching a Dave Ramsey video. We already have a book by him called Smart Couples Finish Rich that we purchased and read a while back. But after watching the video I'm motivated to re-read it and re-apply the principles to our own finances again!
All in all the weekend went by way too fast and we were both exhausted by the time we got home. My idea of a retreat is going somewhere and just relaxing. Be lazy, not go anywhere, just enjoy your surroundings.
