Laundry room project, I WILL get it done!

So I fell out of the habit of blogging for a little while and then recently got back into it and I'm so glad I did because it's really fun to share what's going on with more than just a facebook post.  So to all my friends that have blogs that I follow, update them! :) And if you don't have one, start one!  I would love to read it!

So what's new? How was your Labor day weekend?  Ours was pretty good. Of course I didn't get ANY of my projects I wanted done.  Didn't even get to start one. :(   They are nagging at me and I can't shake it!  Sometimes I get ideas in my head for projects and don't get to start them right away so I just forget about them and it's no biggie.  These I can't seem to get over.

I recently found this blog: Thrifty Decor Chick which has motivated me to get even more organized.  She decorates her home with thrifty finds and I just really like her! She has cute blog posts and loves to be organized like me but takes it to an amazing new level :) hehe.
I've been putting the first project (the laundry room) off because I have been unsure when would be a good time to try and paint it.  I was hoping Jeremy would help me with it this weekend but we just didn't make the time.
SO tomorrow I am going to tape it off and get the paint.  Then Wednesday after I take caden to school I will come straight home and paint!  Hopefully I can get it done.  It's not very big, just tricky with the pantry, washer, dryer, and cabinets! But I'm very excited about it.  I have a plan to add a rod for hanging clothes right out of the dryer, or to dry.  And I want to get a table of some sort to put over the dirty clothes hampers I have in there so I can fold clothes right there easy and not put them in the baskets and "forget about them". That's my worst pet peeve of myself.  I'll pull them from the dryer, put them in the basket and either leave them there, or bring the basket upstairs, or to the living room and get busy with something else and it sits, and the clothes get wrinkled and then when I want to wear them I don't because I don't feel like ironing! AH! So I want a nice, organized laundry room where I can do my laundry and enjoy how streamlined it will be :)

Now that I think about it I'm wondering if I should try to find a table high enough to slide the laundry baskets under it, or just install a shelf above the baskets.... hmmmm! I just asked Jeremy, he agrees with the shelf idea! YES!  that's so much easier than trying to find the perfect table height.  And it will seem less cluttered.   Will be less expensive too. BOOYAH! Here's some pictures of it before I get started....

See it's just kind of there.  Nothing wrong with it, just not very pretty and it's ALL WHITE.  That pantry and the cabinets could use a re-organizing as well.  So here I go!  Wish me luck that I can get it done in a timely manner! :)

  1. Good luck! Can't wait to see the finished project! I'm trying to think of things around my house that I need to organize NOW...before the baby comes. I know it'll be SO much harder after he gets here =)

  2. Thanks for telling me about that blog. I loooove ideas about organizing and re-purposing items you find. I'm trying to do the same around here, organize! Can't wait to see how the laundry room turns out. What color are you painting it?
