Now I am by no means perfect. I do enjoy candy and pizza! But those things are not a staple part of our diets. They are more a once in a while splurge. But I know it can be hard to not just grab what is quickest. I know there are many days when I am out running errands with Caden and the thought of just grabbing some fast food to eat instead of going home to prepare a meal sounds wayyyy easier! Or shopping at the grocery store and seeing that colorful isle of candy just calling out to me! And sometimes the soda cooler by the checkout tries to tempt me with "refreshing" cokes and dr. Peppers.
In case you Are having a having a hard time cutting bad foods out of your diet I thought I would share something that has worked for me. When tempted by the fake foods that will do nothing but add extra pounds and provide no nutrition to your body, instead of telling yourself you CAN'T have something, instead ask yourself do I really NEED this? The answer will almost always be a big fat NO!
I know whenever I used to try and diet and cut things out and say I can't have this or that it would be like I was playing games with myself. "what do you mean I CAN'T have a dr. Pepper? Nobody tells me what I can and can't have!" which is really silly when the person telling me I couldn't was ME. Just something about that word CAN'T makes me want to fight back!
So instead I ask myself "do I really NEED this soda?" no, no I don't. Do you need that sugary cereal? Or could you eat a whole grain English muffin with a banana instead? Do you need that order of Fries, or could you opt for the side of fruit instead?
Now I know its easy to say but I WANT it! And occasionally that's totally fine. But I guarantee you that when you start to go without those unbelievably bad foods you will start to notice a difference in how you feel and will stop WANTING.
So if it's hard for you to just quit your favorite junk foods cold turkey because of that word CAN'T, I promise if you just ask yourself do I NEED it? And answer yourself honestly because nobody NEEDS fake food. When you stop needing it, you stop wanting it.
Please let me know if this works for you too! Praying for your healthy choices!
